A chair as a loose unity 01

Chairs are more than just things to sit on. Designers design chairs for each purpose, but sometimes chairs appear for a different reason. This chair is the result of assembling materials that existed for different purposes and then became obsolete 

for some reason. Even if it's just warped plywood and scrap wood, they provide a clue: the object has room for events to happen, so it's true that the essence of the object is the future. As Timothy Morton argues, objects are spatialized by other beings and 

around each object there is a potentially infinite progression to other objects.

의자는 앉기 위한 사물 그 이상이다. 디자이너가 특정한 목적에 따라 의자를 디자인하지만 다른 이유로 의자가 나타나기도 한다. 이 의자는 각각 다른 목적으로 존재하다가 어떤 이유로 디자이너에게 쓸모없어진 재료들을 결합한 결과물이다. 휘어진 합판과 옹이가 있는 각재라도 그것들은 어떤 단서를 제공한 다. 즉, 그 사물에는 사건이 일어날 여지가 있으니 사물의 본질은 미래라는 말이 맞다. 티머시 모턴의 주장대로, “객체는 다른 존재자들에 의해 공간화”되고 “각각의 객체 주위에는 다른 객체로의 잠재적으로 무한한 진행이 있다”.
